Ed and Liz took their show (er, workshop) on the road and taught Small Basic to some amazing students in the Decatur High School Computer Science Club on May 17th for the next-to-last workshop of the 2016-2017 school year! We walked through a tutorial and promptly watched the students take a simple lesson and make it their own! Many of these students had some experience with programming, but even those who didn’t asked great questions and picked things up quickly. One student said programming was too much typing and so we talked about why you want to be lazy efficient and write as little code as possible, and then showed them how you can do that with variables, loops and subroutines.
We’re working on developing more workshops and content to take to even more schools across the Puget Sound and even the world- if you have suggestions on content or format, share with us in the comments!
